Women in this country have so many advantages that I find it unbelievable and even pathetic that any of us are unhappy. I am a busy single mother and successful executive who thanks God every day for my life and the fact that neither my child nor I were born in a country such as Sudan or Afghanistan where women have few rights or freedoms and no advantages. Maybe American women need to look outside themselves and reach out to the women of the world who REALLY have a reason to be unhappy. The best way to achieve real happiness is by helping others. We need to support “sisterhood” all over the world.

Douthat indicated that the happiness of men has “inched up.” It seems like there is not a corollary rise in men to contrast the dip in women. The result, it appears, is an overall drop in happiness.

I loved the article. It is not a surprise that the modern women are unhappy when God plainly said that they should submit in everything to their husbands (Eph. 5:24). Disobedience has its consequences.
